Ready. . .Get Set. . .

This is our last night for who-knows-how-long sleeping under a conventional roof.

Ready or not! Let the adventure begin!

As you can imagine, it's more than a little hectic around here right now. I'll be back as soon as I get a minute to collect my thoughts. And I'll bring Before pics. There are no After pics yet on account of nothing is totally done yet. We'll be parked at my brother's house for a while we finish stuff and figure out all the things that we don't even know that we're gonna have to figure out. Of course there will continue to be art because something's gotta keep me sane amidst all this madness!

One Last Trio

Just finished the last batch that will be made in this house!

Say hello to Kitty Kitty, Jenny, and Sweet Charlotte.

They're all in the shop now and ready to go to new homes too.

The next piece that I'll be offering will have to come from the Wheelie House. Which is SO not done yet. Like not even close. But it's getting there. I'll have some more Before pics soon.

Two Dimensions and Today's Table

I just felt like doing some little paintings of some of my favorites.

It was a nice change of pace from my usual 3-dimensional fare.

And here's a little peak at this morning's table. They'll all be done this evening, if all goes according to plan. Dylan has been too busy trying to make the wheelie house livable to do anything else, so I had to dust off my sewing skills. I was MUCH slower than Dylan, but I did it! I feel like a little kid going around saying, "All by myself!" I'm pretty sure that this will be the last batch made in this house. Gonna spend the rest of the weekend doing moving stuff. Only 5 more days til we're in the wheelie house! Hopefully by next weekend I'll have made my first goodies in our new mobile studio. Well, at least ONE goody. Everybody cross your fingers for me! (I could really really use it!)

Step-by-Step Silliness and Mismatched Socks

I love seeing stuff in progress, don't you?

So while I was making this sweet trio, I snapped some pics.

Panda                      Owl                          Kitty

Today I'm making 5 little paintings of some past favorites. Feels odd to work in only two dimensions. I'll show them to you when they're a little further along.

And speaking of being further along, it's only 9 more days til we load up The Cart and hit the road! Dylan keeps plugging away at it. It's coming together, but it's still a long way from being done. Fortunately, our first stop will be my brother's house where we'll finish everything. He's super handy too, so between him and Dylan it'll come together quicker. In between trips to the dump/recycling center, I'll take some more Before pics to show you the progress soon. It's all so exciting! (And quite nerve-wracking, truth be told.) We were able to get rid of probably 70% of our stuff at the moving sale last weekend, and now our remaining possessions are in the process of being reduced to 3 piles-- Stuff that needs to come with us, stuff that needs to be stored indefinitely, and stuff that College Boy will need for his dorm but doesn't need now. We're trying to make the Storage pile as small as possible, but there are still many things that I don't want to part with forever. Art mostly, of course. It's really quite liberating (and eye-opening) doing such a thorough editing of all of our possessions. For instance, we've unearthed 57 mismatched socks! 57!! How is that even possible??

Something-New Sunday: A Collaboration

I'm doing a collaboration of sorts with my kids. I've always wanted to do do a series of sculptures based on their artwork from when they were little (which they aren't anymore). This is the first. I'm in love with it, and its oddness. Can't wait to do more and more!

It'll be available this evening, 5:PM in our Etsy shop.

Tiny Bathroom.Tiny Sale.

Taking photos of a toilet??? Yep!

Here's the RV bathroom so far. Dylan like to re-purpose existing stuff whenever he can. Some of the things he incorporated into this tiny bathroom include: a hat rack that his grandfather made him when he was 5,  a crossbow, a clothes hamper, and an old typewriter.

We're hoping to put in flooring today, which will make everything feel like it's finally coming together. Everything takes longer and costs more than we've guessed, but we're seeing progress. Good thing too, cuz we're moving in in 11 days!!

In other news. . .

These four one-of-a-kinds have been marked way the heck down to only $40 a piece.

Here in the shop.

Something-New. . . Monday

To say that it has been hectic around here is a major understatement. I wanted to have these guys all ready for Something-New Sunday, but nope. They're here now though! Better late than never, right?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In other news, the moving sale is done. Holy crap was that a lot of work! It was reasonably successful, and now the bulk of our former belongings are someone else's. Except for the TVs. Apparently, you can't even give away a TV. Or a VCR for that matter. Goodwill will take them though, so that's where they're off too. Still lots and lots to be done on the RV to make it ready. We're out of this house in two weeks, ready or not!

In the Works

Nothin' says lovin' like beasties in the oven!

I've managed to get a few new additions to the menagerie underway. An owl, a cat (that's sorta looking like a chihuahua at the moment) and a panda. Dylan is up to his eyeballs trying to finish the RV, so I've been left to my own devices. That is, no sewing. So these guys are fully sculpted, paperclay over wood. I can't sew like Dylan, but he can't sculpt like me, so I guess it all evens out. I keep sneaking in time with them whenever I can. My studio is the only sane place in the house at the moment. The rest of it looks like it should be on one of those terrible hoarder reality shows. We're having a moving sale this coming weekend, and moving out (and in to the RV) at the end of the month. I'm trying to do one thing at a time, but there are so many things begging to be done at once! I just keep reminding myself to breathe, and check another thing off the list. The very, very, very long list.

On Sale

The packing up and sizing down continues here on the ole Cart. So much to do! We want to be in the RV and out of this house by the end of this month. So in the interest of having less to pack up, I'm discounting the few pieces we have on hand.

Better get back to checking things off my list now.

Hope you're all having a productive day. Or not.

Walla Walla Wedding

We took a break from our regularly scheduled shenanigans to partake in a whole new level of goings-on. We spent the week in Walla Walla Washington to throw that once-in-a-lifetime shindig for College Girl-- her wedding!

We made tablecloths and favors and cupcake toppers and hair bows and bouquets and and and. . . It was a whirlwind of activity. Oh yes, there were lists. Many, many lists. But with major support from GJ (that's what the kidlettes call my mom) and all hands on deck, we pulled it off! A lovely time was had by one and all, and even the park's resident peacock put on his party clothes just for the occasion.

So now my sweet baby girl has a cool new name, and I have a wonderful son-in-law.

And time marches on.
