Aftermath, Sneaky-Peeky, and Winner #7

Just wanted to do some more before pics of the wheelie house, but there's not much of a see-able difference since the last pics. We finished painting, the cabinet doors have been put up, and Dylan has done some behind-the-walls stuff, but we're sort of at  a standstill til we get our Kickstarter funds (which should be within the next two weeks). In the meantime, I thought I'd share some of the wheelie house related mess that has accumulated. Even with Dylan reusing lots of stuff we've managed to salvage, there are still lots and lots of random bits left over.

This is the yucky propane-powered fridge that we'll be replacing with an energy saving electric one. And all the moldy carpet that was in the "basement" area. Yuck!

We're continuing to use and recycle what we can and will donate any usable parts to a salvage yard before taking the rest to the dump. Both of us hate contributing to landfill, but we gotta do what we gotta do. In the meantime we're making lists of stuff that needs to be bought once our Kickstarter money comes. And, of course, continuing to make art. Here's a peek at what's in the works for Sunday. . .

And one more order of business. . .

Now the give-away is done. We'll get the prizes out to the lucky winners toot sweet.

Thanks for playing, everybody!

Something-New Sunday

There's quite the collection of eclectic creatures on today's Cart.

I've been basking in an abundance of inspiration this week. Probably because our Kickstarter thingy is 100% funded which is beyond exciting, and a huge relief!  There are still 5 days left if you wanna take part in the arty goodness. Thank you so much to those who have become backers and helped to spread the word. We are truly grateful, and already making thank you cards. (We're not called Cart Before the Horse for nothin'.)

Today's Table

A strange menagerie awaits me on this morning's table. (I had to pixelate one of them on account of it's gonna be a surprise for the recipient.) Speaking of tables. . .

My art table is suddenly much smaller. And red. A certain Cart dweller has absconded with my precious table and is currently in the process of cutting it up *gasp!* and turning it into a bed/desk for the wheelie house. Is nothing safe from his mad-scientist ways?? Speaking of mad scientists. . .

I'd better get back to bringing this group to life.

In the meantime, on the Kickstarter front. . .

79% there, 9 days to go! We've come so far, please help get us all the way there. If we don't get all the way to 100% then we don't get any funding at all and nobody wins. Go here and be our hero.

Something-New Sunday

I know it's smack dab in the middle of Spring, but what can I say?

I'm feeling a little witchy!

In other news. . .

Our Kickstarter project is in full-swing. We're 70% there, with only 12 days to go.

Go here, kick in a couple bucks, help spread the word, be our hero!

The Half-Way Mark

WHAT?

We’re turning a 1989 Winnebago Itasca into a place where we can live and work. For the past 10 years we've been making our living making art that we show and sell via the internet. This has given us the freedom to live wherever we want, regardless of job options. However, up until this point we've been limited by wanting to live in kid-friendly places with good schools. But now our youngest is about to graduate, and we're ready to wander around a bit. We still need to make a living though, and still want/need to make art, so we’re packing up the studio and taking it with us! When we’re done with it our little wheelie house (hopefully by the end of July) will have two studio spaces for the two of us, a bedroom, bathroom with a shower, and a guest bed. It’ll accommodate all of our arty living needs; space for sewing, painting, sculpting, shipping, and even a little bit of woodworking. And it’ll be capable of keeping us connected to our wonderful collectors via the magic of wireless internet. We've sunk all of our dollars into making this happen. ALL of them. We're asking your help to finish it.

WHY?

We want to have a home of our own without the burden of a mortgage. We
want the freedom to experiment without being held to building codes, to explore
new views whenever we get the urge, to chase the weather. We’re excited by the innovation
that living in a small space insists upon.
Tiny houses are cozy. We like the way the rain sounds on the roof. We want to live a life less ordinary. We like the simple things. We want
to spend more time making whatever tickles our fancy, without having to worry
that it won’t pay the bills. Both of us are homebodies, so the idea of being
able to see new things while still technically being at home has an undeniable
appeal.

................................................................

As of today, we are half-way to our goal. Yay!!

16 days to go. Please go here, and tell your friends!

Sweet Rewards

If you become a backer of our Kickstarter project, not only will you feel the warmth of being a totally awesome person that we'll forever hold in our hearts, you could also get rewards of a more tangible nature. Like these! (We made all of these things especially for our Kickstarter project, so you won't be able to get them anywhere else.)

As of this morning we're 1/3 of the way there. Hooray! 17 days left. Still a long way to go and a short time to get there. A big THANK YOU to the 39 people that have backed us so far!

Will you join in? Go here to play along.

We're gonna make a pretty list of all our backers and carry it with us in the wheelie house, and whenever we look at it we'll be reminded once again that people are wonderful and that we're not alone in our endeavors.

Something-New

I finished the latest trio of anthropomorphic cuteness-- Sunshine, Rainy Day, and Moonshine. And since we're headed out of town in the morning to go visit my mom for Mother's Day I thought I'd go ahead a list them early.

I also finished something a bit different, more two-dimensional than our regular fare. I took several of my original cut-paper pieces that I've designed for other projects and matted them so that they might have a life of their own. They're all ready to go too.

....................................................................................

On another note:

Once again, thank you for your continued support of our Kickstarter project! We're off to a good start, but we've still got a loooong way to go. We sincerely appreciate any help you can offer.

For All the Moms

There are all sorts of mothers out there. Moms and Mommies, Mums and Ma's. And sometimes even Pa's. Mothers-in-law and mother outlaws. Big sisters, grandmas, aunties, friends, step-moms, birth-moms, adopted moms, and foster moms. Teachers and mentors, neighbors and babysitters. Some you're born with, some find you, and some you find. Whether they have babies, fur-babies, big kids, or grown-ups-- Mothering is a way of loving. Any who get it and any who give it are blessed. Today we're grateful for all the mothers out there, whatever name they may wear.

(But let's face it, mothering can be a thankless job. So here's a little incentive to buy yourself a present.)

. . .here. . .

Today's Table

Mostly I'm working on those sculpted pieces in the top pic, but I keep returning to that big ole skull whenever I get spare minutes. I'm just having fun with it, and I suspect it'll be a work-in-progress for quite some time. I carved it out of a heavy chunk of wood quite some time ago, and it's been sitting around the house in its naked-wood state waiting for inspiration to strike ever since. And strike it has! I'm going with a garden theme. Haven't quite figured out what sort of color theme to go with, but I'm leaning towards a very limited palette. No use rushing these things, it'll continue to wait patiently until I figure it out.

Silliness abounds!

Here's the video that uber-silly Dylan made for our Kickstarter project--

It's actually the second video. He had one all done, but he got on a creative streak and totally re-did it in a day! I like it way better, it's so much nerdier and Dylan-er now. I'm camera shy (a total understatement). Him, not so much. Can you tell?

Hooray, as of today we're 20% funded!

Will you pledge, and help make our dreams a reality? Every little bit helps. Will you help to spread the word? (I get so nervous about asking so openly for support, but ask and ye shall receive, right? I sure hope so.) A big THANK YU to those of you who have contributed! We definitely can't do it without you.

Fruits and Veggies

Fruit Salad is great in any weather!

Make a bowl and eat together.

Everybody's got their faces on. Did you know that some fruits are more chatty than others? Now I know. And some revel in bad puns. Especially Artichoke. Artichoke isn't a technically a fruit, but the others have nevertheless accepted him as one of their own. Fruit are nice that way.

They're all ready to go pester someone else now.

PS- We are very grateful to all of you who are helping to spread the word about our Kickstarter project. Thank you!!

That Super-Secret Project We've Been Working On

We've hit some bumps along the way, but we're finally able to reveal the thing that we've been working on  for the past month or so. (Drumroll, please.) We're doing a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the Wheelie House!

Please go here and check out the silly video Dylan made and all the rewards that we've put together just for the occasion! And please please please spread the word?

I'm fairly jumping out of my skin, my brain is all swirly with what-ifs! I'm so nervous and excited and happy and and and. . . I just hopes this happens SO much!!  Can't succeed without trying though, right?
